But none are left to greet me Tom

That played with us upon the green 
Just fifteen years ago

The stream appears less wide 

But in kneeling down beside the stream

To see how sadly I am changed

Ho fatto un giro in paese Tom 
Mi sono seduto sotto l’albero 
Sul campo da gioco della scuola 
Che ci ha protetti 

Ma nessuno è uscito per salutarmi Tom 
E pochi sono quelli che ancora ricordano 
Che hanno giocato con noi sull’erba 
Solo quindici anni fa

Il fiume scorre ancora calmo 
I salici lungo la riva 
Sono più grandi di allora Tom 
Il fiume mi sembra meno ampio 

Ma in ginocchio giù sul fiume
